Winter is arriving for those of us in the Northern hemisphere.

Our online shop is now closed until Spring. This winter break allows us time for restoration and replenishment, organisation and admin, reflection and future planning. We believe that working in alignment with nature’s cycles allows for more balanced and resilient wellbeing overall. We’re already excited to come back in spring refreshed and restocked.

You can dm us for any last minute orders for collection at the Christmas Fair on Sunday, and there will be plenty of stock to pick up on the day too.

We’re also still taking bookings for catering and celebration cheesecakes. 🌲

Years ago I (Suzie) fell in love with soy chai lat

Years ago I (Suzie) fell in love with soy chai lattés as my 7am pick-me-up from Starbucks on my commute to London 🫣.Trishna (aka chaimander), is also a long time lover of chai. We’ve drank many cups made by different hands over the years and it’s safe to say we still love a good chai!

I‘m so pleased with our loose leaf chai blend just released on the website. It’s a mix of organic warming spices and naturally-grown black tea sourced in person from the Pindaya region of Burma by our friend Mark of Teas of Gaia. Hand-blended and jarred in small batches by our kitchen pixie Trishna. It makes a delightful cup of tea and a better latté than any of the coffee shops’ in my opinion.

Studies show that ingredients in the chai blend may help to reduce blood pressure and cholesterol levels, reduce nausea, aid digestion, and boost energy.

I also want to honour the complex and beautiful tradition of drinking chai and it’s country of origin, India. The folklore surrounding chai dates back to between 5000 and 9000 years ago to an ancient royal court. It was said that the king created the spice blend as a healing Ayurvedic beverage, though for millennia it didn’t contain any tea leaves. From the 1830s black tea started to be mixed into the existing chai (influenced by the East India Company’s increased and problematic production of tea in India) and the beginnings of chai culture as we now know it emerged. 🦚

This salted caramel baked cheesecake was made for @terencecharles1 . Made with activated organic cashews, cultured coconut yoghurt, organic fair-trade vanilla beans from Madagascar, organic criollo cacao butter from Peru, on an adaptogenic maca biscuit base. Drizzled with coconut blossom salted caramel sauce, topped with homemade organic popcorn and vegan chocolate shavings. Decorated with homegrown hops, cape gooseberries, and edible flowers.

Samhain blessings beautiful beings. 🍁

Samhain is an ancient festival, thought to have Celtic-Pagan origins, and historically observed throughout Ireland, Scotland, the Isle of Man, and beyond. Marking the end of harvest and start of the darker days. It is believed that the barriers between the physical and spirit worlds are thinner during this sabbat, opening communication with otherworlds and beings like the Fae. Offerings were often prepared for the dead and divine. Some historians have argued that it was the Celtic New Year, and many following Wicca or Neo-Pagan celebrate this as the ‘Witches’ New Year’, setting intentions for the new turn of the wheel.

We're now offering the option to buy some of our sacred herbs and blends in reusable amber glass jars with gold lids. They make beautiful little zerowaste, plantbased, sustainably-sourced gifts for the plant lover in your life.

This one is contains our Blue Lotus flowers. Blue Lotus is a mildly psychoactive plant often associated with the third eye, lucid dreaming, intuition, and visionary states. Use of this flower has ancient roots, and was held in very high esteem by the ancient Egyptians. When the Pharao known as King Tut was entombed, his body was covered in Nymphaea Caerulea flowers. Many historians thought it was a purely symbolic flower, but there is mounting evidence that suggests that ancient Egyptians used the plant to induce ecstatic states, stimulation, and visions, as well as as a medicine (Voogelbreinder 2009, 247).

We love to brew cacao using the blue lotus infused tea. But it can also be drank alone, smoked, or used in spell work and offerings.

Our next batch of cacao bars will be made tomorrow on this watery full moon.

This month’s bars are a blend of ceremonial-grade organic heirloom Peruvian cacao with British lady’s mantle essence. Sweetened with a touch of organic coconut blossom sugar, with a pinch of sea salt from the Jurassic coast for flavour and protection. Comes with red rose petals to sprinkle on top.

In line with the shift into Autumn and entering the element of water, this blend is brewed with the intentions of aiding the gentle release of heavy emotions and trauma, harmonising relationships, and allowing new depths of love to emerge. But you can bring your own intentions to your cacao ritual.

Our bars are handpoured with intentional prayers, scents, and sounds by experienced cacaoista, Suzie. Dedicated to the healing of mama Earth. Each bar makes one shamanic drink or two regular doses.We’re also taking custom blend preorders for next full moon. DM for details.

We had such a magical evening on Monday hosting 5

We had such a magical evening on Monday hosting 5 wonderful couples for a 5 course seasonal, plantbased, zerowaste feast at @lawsonsmarketgarden .

This dish was course IV - a caramelised homegrown shallot and hummus tart. Made with cured shallots from our permaculture market garden, caramelised with organic onions and homemade apple cider vinegar with the mother. Sprinkled onto a base of homemade hummus made with chickpeas from Norfolk and herby pastry made with English wheat grown regeneratively among agroforestry in Suffolk. Served with homegrown micros and a herby hemp dressing made with hemp oil from @margent_farm .

What an honour it was to host our first dinner on

What an honour it was to host our first dinner on the farm last night to celebrate Lammas. We loved curating and hosting our own feast for the first time in a while. We’re definitely tired today but it was so worth it!

Five courses and botanical mocktails. All seasonal, homemade, organic, plantbased and zerowaste, most homegrown and picked by us that day. Menus printed on hemp paper, with linen napkins and eco candles.

A huge thank you to our wonderful guests, to @ambercottageflowers for the gorgeous centrepiece as well as being the best nanna and keeping Aya happy, to @lawsonsmarketgarden for being such an incredible partner and for all your hard work, @kimberleyalex for the beautiful photos, and to the plants for all of their wholesome deliciousness.

Lammas is a traditional time of harvest celebration and community gathering, it feels good to honour this and remember our dependence on the land.

Next dinner will be on 29th August and up on the website later in the week for tickets, though it’s already nearly fully booked! 🌿

I (Suzie) was looking forward to brewing a warrior blend of ceremonial cacao bars tonight but Aya and I have the virus. We are both fine, but the quality of energy put into them is very important to me.

The full moon in July has been known by many names including the Hay Moon (Anglo-Saxon), Claiming Moon (Medieval British), Mead Moon (Celtic), Thunder Moon (North American), and Buck Moon (Native American). All speak to a time of high dynamic solar energy and abundance in nature.

🌸 Lemon balm, rose, and gooseberry chia summer puddings 🌸

These soothing and nutritious little puddings are great for a light breakfast or dessert.

Can easily be made fully British. You can order chia seeds from Essex and apple syrup from Dorset from our online shop.

PUDDING
100g chia seeds
2 tbsp natural sweetener
pinch of sea salt
500ml British oat milk

SYRUP
1 punnet gooseberries
1 fresh rose flower head or 2 tbsp dried petals
1 bunch of fresh lemon balm or 2 tbsp dried leaf
100ml water
4 tbsp natural sweetener

OPTIONAL TOPPINGS
fresh berries
coconut milk or yoghurt
drizzle of apple syrup

INSTRUCTIONS
Add all of the pudding ingredients to a bowl. Stir well to combine. Then cover and leave in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

Add the lemon balm, rose and water to a pan. Bring to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Then remove the petals and leaves with a slotted spoon or sieve. Toss the gooseberries into the pan with the remaining liquid. Bring back to the boil then turn down to a simmer for 5 minutes. Mash the berries with a fork once they've softened, then stir well. You can pass the mixture through a sieve at this stage if you'd like a smooth syrup. Then pour into a jar or bottle. Allow to cool and keep in the fridge for up to 1 week.

To serve, spoon the puddings into individual bowls or glasses. Add a generous spoonful of the syrup and any other toppings you'd like. Serve chilled and enjoy.

For me, working with plantbased food feels like making impermanent works of art with nature. The colours, shapes, textures, scents, and tastes that come from the garden at this time of year are incredible and bring me such awe and joy.

Luckily we have @lawsonsmarketgarden to do the growing of such beautiful plants, because I’m much better in the kitchen than garden!

Our products are raw and untempered, which means that, overtime, the cacao butter will bloom and the coconut sugar crystalise on the surface. This is normal and natural, and doesn’t affect the final taste of your cacao. We don’t temper our bars as they’re meant for drinking, and we find untempered cacao both safer and easier to chop, as well as less processed and quicker to melt. We also think the blooms are beautiful (but we’re biased!).
